About this site
IT/OT Convergence is an independent, bilingual knowledge base about where office IT and industrial control technology (OT) meet. The site explains terms, standards, protocols and legislation for everyone who works with industrial automation or OT security: engineers, administrators, security specialists, buyers, managers and students.
🎯 Why does this knowledge base exist?
IT and OT are growing together. Factories, water boards, energy companies and buildings connect their control systems to office networks and the cloud. That brings data and efficiency, but also new risks and new obligations, such as the Dutch Cybersecurity Act and the Cyber Resilience Act. Clear explanations that connect technology, security and regulation were hard to find, particularly with a Dutch and European perspective. This knowledge base aims to fill that gap.

Every article starts with a short definition, followed by explanation, practical examples, tables and frequently asked questions. All articles are available in Dutch and English; use the language switch to move between the two versions.
👤 Who is behind it?
The knowledge base is compiled and maintained by Frank Woutersen. He is also responsible for the sister sites Industrial IT and OT Architect. How articles are produced and checked is described in the Editorial Policy.
💶 How is the site funded?
The site is free to use and is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Advertisements are recognisable as Google ads and have no influence on the content of the articles. The Privacy Policy explains which data is processed for this.
